Disney confirmed something that has been rumored for a few months now, the Plaza Pavilion will once again become a food service location as it will be transformed into a Mary Poppins themed bakery in early 2012. Starting tomorrow, August 16th, the Plaza Pavilion will begin it’s transformation into the Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. The Plaza Pavilion once served as a restaurant and most recently as the Disneyland Annual Passport Processing Center. With the recent changes to the way Annual Passports are processed, the building can once again be used as a food service location. The new Jolly Holiday Bakery Café is said to feature an “expanded menu, as well as outdoor seating”, it will replace the soon-to-close Blue Ribbon Bakery in January of 2012.
The Blue Ribbon Bakery will also be transformed into an indoor seating area for the neighboring Carnation Café. Currently the Carnation Café has very limited outdoor patio seating and is in need of the additional indoor seating. The Carnation Café and the Blue Ribbon Bakery will close the first of the year with completion scheduled for the summer of 2012.
With all the reconstruction, the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor and the Candy Palace kitchen will also be expanded. These two locations are expected to close in January and re-open sometime in the spring of 2012.
The first half of 2012 will prove to be an exciting time for The Disneyland Resort, as we will now see a quarter of Disneyland’s Main Street USA refurbished and expanded as well as Buena Vista Street and Cars Land unveiled at Disney California Adventure Park.
