For the past two days, Disney California Adventure has held a Cars Land and Buena Vista Street Merchandise Showcase inside the Stage 17 building in the Hollywood Backlot area of the park. The event is open to all Annual Passholders in which they are given the opportunity to purchase merchandise nearly 3 months before the general public.
Along with previewing some of the costumes for Buena Vista Street, the event featured tee shirts, hats, jackets, vinylmation, pins, coins, posters and many other items that will be eventually sold in the park. A Mater and Lightning Maqueen meet and greet was set up in one corner, complete with a Photopass cast member, and music from the movie Cars and Cars 2 played in the background as guests shopped.

Disney appeared to be ready for large crowds, as they allowed guests to line up early each morning outside of California Adventure and even obtain their wristbands in the Toy Story parking lot, prior to park opening. A large queue and a bank of cash registers were set up along one wall of the Stage 17 building.
These photos were taken on Weds afternoon, and the event was very empty.

The most expensive item for purchase was this Cars Land leather jacket, available for $380.

I saw quite a bit of these Cars Land Mickey Ear Hats around California Adventure today.

Vinylmation got in on the action with ‘Monorail inspired’ Cars figures.

One of the highlights was a preview of the Buena Vista Street Cast Member Costumes.

There was also a section set up to preview some merchandise and drinks for the “Mad T Party”
