Disneyland Resort Photo Report for March 12, 2012.
Welcome Back to the Disneyland Resort
xBefore I start off this week’s Disneyland Resort Photo and News Report, I have a bit of sad news to share. Most of you may know by now, but Robert Sherman, one of the “Sherman Brothers” who are responsible for some of the best Disney music of all time, passed away this week. Disneyland placed a wreath next to the Sherman Brothers window on Main Street, a loving memorial to a man who touched us all with the power of music.
After a few weeks off from bringing you a large Photo Report, I’m back…with 130 photographs! Over the past few weeks a lot has happened at the Disneyland Resort. The Blue Sky Cellar reopened with a Cars Land exhibit, Cars Land and Buena Vista Street have official opening dates and many small changes are visible as “project sparkle” is evident in many corners of the resort.
But before we dive into the magic, let’s see how this week’s crowd forecast looks from our friends at Touring Plans.
Expect a busy few weeks as Spring Break crowds descend upon Disneyland. TouringPlans.com can help you navigate the parks with our per-park Crowd Calendar, Lines – Mobile Wait Times App that gives access to current and estimated wait times for attractions, and Touring Plans detailing the best plan of attack for hitting the attractions. Now more than ever, it’s a good time to subscribe to TouringPlans.com to plan your strategy to avoid the crowds!
Below are the predicted resort-wide crowd numbers for select days generated by the TouringPlans professional statisticians as measured for the upcoming week. For the access to the full year and per-park crowd level predictions, visit our Crowd Calendar.

Blue Sky Cellar, The Road to Cars Land

The Blue Sky Cellar reopened on Leap Day, just in time for One More Disney Day
The new exhibit is “The Road to Cars Land” and features artwork, concept art, and a giant model of Cars Land which was used in the development of Cadillac Range!

You can see the new costume for Flo’s V8 Cafe in the upper left corner of the photo.

Radiator Springs Racers is going to be an amazing attraction. The concept art suggests many special features beyond what we know of Test Track at Walt Disney World.

Your car get’s a paint job and a is lifted for a tire change?

The back story to Radiator Springs Racers.
The Ornament Valley area was the first settlement of Radiator Springs, founded by Stanley, and developed as a Road-Side Attraction.

Guests can control the direction and spin of the Luigi’s Flying Tires attraction.

Many of the road side signs that inspired the Walt Disney Imagineer’s during their Route 66 trip.

Cars Land Model
The model is not quite as impressive as the Buena Vista Street model was, however it still gives amazing views into Cars Land and Cadillac Range that we have not yet seen. Just looking at the rock work from different views gives you an idea of how massive Cars Land really is!

Mater’s Junkyard Jukebox, from Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree

This model shows how the ride vehicles for Radiator Springs Racers were developed from the Test Track attraction at Walt Disney World. The left side of the model is the Test Track version, where the right side is the Radiator Springs Racers version.

A new movie in the screening room is hosted by none other than John Lasseter. The video shows amazing views into Cars Land, and the backstory of how the Imagineers developed Cars Land from the movie and their Route 66 road trips.
