A few weeks ago we told you that Disney was casting for a few new shows for Buena Vista Street, and today Disney confirmed it in a blog post. “Five and Dime”, a high-energy musical group featuring a female lead singer, will be preformed in Carthay Circle, the hub of the new Buena Vista Street. “Five and Dime” is said of have traveled from Chicago trying to make it big, a very familiar theme in Los Angeles even today. The group traveled the famous Route 66 from Chicago to LA. Radiator Springs, the town for which Cars Land is built around, calles part of Route 66 home, making an opportunity to tie the two new areas together.
The Red Car News Boys, dreaming of a better life, will also perform on Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Land. This group of paperboys will take to the street from a Red Car Trolly, excited to be in California.
The style of the Red Car News Boys will be in that of Disney’s 1992 movie The Newsies. Here is a short clip from The Newsies, which will give you an idea of how the show may appear.
Both the Red Car News Boys and Five and Dime will debut on Buena Vista Street June 15th.
