The historic Disneyland parlor car, The Lilly Belle, as well as one of the first passenger train cars used for Disneyland, will be on display at this year’s Fullerton Railroad Days. The annual Fullerton Railroad Days are held at the historic Fullerton train station, only five miles north of the Disneyland Resort. The Lilly Belle was put back into service at Disneyland as an exclusive parlor car for Club 33 members, and those who can talk themselves into a ride, in 2005. The passenger car, known at Retlaw 1 (Walter spelled backwards), was retired from Disneyland in the early 1970′s. Retlaw 1 is currently housed in Griffith Park in Los Angeles under the care of the Carolwood Foundation.
It is unknown, but highly likely, that the Lilly Belle will be open for walk-throughs, which would be a great opportunity those who have not yet been inside of this wonderful piece of Disneyland and Walt Disney history.
Disneyland and the Carolwood Foundation have come together in the past to display actual park railroad equipment. In 2006, the E.P. Ripley, one of the two original Disneyland Steam Train Locomotives, was placed on display at Fullerton Railroad Days.
The 2012 Fullerton Railroad Days runs May 5 & 6, 2012 from 9 a.m. – 5p.m. at the Fullerton Train Station.
