The Carnation Cafe, a very popular restaurant on Disneyland’s Main Street USA, will be reopening on June 13, 2012 with a complete redesign and spruced up menu. The Carnation Cafe closed in January along with the Candy Palace, Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor and Refreshment Corner, as part of an extensive multi-month redesign. The other locations have since reopened. The Carnation Cafe has reclaimed the indoor space recently used by the Blue Ribbon Bakery.
Well known cast member Oscar Martinez will return when the restaurant reopens. Oscar Martinez is a bit of a Carnation Cafe celebrity, recently having celebrated his 55th anniversary of employment at Disneyland, he can routinely be seen meeting with diners and posing for photographs. During the construction and closure, Oscar has been working at the nearby Jolly Holiday Bakery.
The recently expanded restaurant now offering indoor seating and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Favorites such as ‘Oscar’s Choice’: two eggs, breakfast potatoes and biscuit with bacon or a new option of chicken-apple sausage links, will be on the menu. New additions will include apple-granola pankes, hearty huevos ranchero with corn tortillas, poached eggs, salsa and an avocado-black bean pico de gallo. A spinach-and-egg white frittata is also available.
For lunch or dinner, a classic baked potato soup, beef-and-pork meatloaf served with trendy edamame succotash, fresh fish, fried chicken breast with mashed potatoes, green chile cheeseburger with a fried egg on toasted brioche or a vegan burger are available.
For the kids, fried chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies, a burger or mac & cheese served with fresh fruit.
