Disneyland Resort Photo Report for June 11, 2012.
Welcome Back to the Disneyland Resort
We have entered the week leading up to the relaunch of Disney California Adventure park. 5 years and over a billion dollars later, Disney California Adventure park is ready to be rededicated as the true “Disney” theme park that it should have been over 11 years ago. On Thursday, the park will officially be rededicated, and on Friday it will open to the masses. This next week will be a media frenzy, if you haven’t already been swarmed with commercials, online ads, billboards and blogs, you will be over the course of the next week. Disney has a ton riding on this next chapter.
Yesterday, I toured Buena Vista Street and Cars Land as part of a paid Annual Passholder preview. I was overwhelmed with the level of detail on Buena Vista Street and I have to say, it will quickly become one of my most favorite places at the Disneyland Resort. But what Disney wants you to experience is Cars Land. The entirely new land, a recreation of Radiator Springs, the town from the movie Cars, is on a scale that is overwhelming. As you move down Route 66 and get closer to Radiator Springs Racers, Cars Land’s signature attraction, you quickly realize the scope of this ‘land’. Ornament Valley, the mountain range, completely surrounds you. Disney went to town on forced perspective and it creates depths that are very difficult to capture with a camera; you just have to see it for yourself.
This week, I’m going to give you a wordless tour of Buena Vista Street and Cars Land. And throughout the summer, I will showcase different aspects of the two new areas for Disney California Adventure park.
Enjoy!
