The Disneyland Resort is expanding the use of the new “Glow with the Show” technology to include Fantasmic! ”Glow with the Show” first debuted as an enhancement to the World of Color this past June at Disney California Adventure.
The special Glow with the Show Mickey Ear Hats utilize infrared technology which allows Disney to control the light up ears of each hat. The result is a sea of glowing lights which change color and flash in unison causing waves of colors to flow through the crowd. The technology is impressive, when the majority of the crowd is wearing the specialized hats. Disney has promoted “Glow with the Show” with several special Annual Passholder preview’s and a Disney Parks Blog meet up, where each guest was provided with a complementary set of glowing ears.
Here is a video of “Glow with the Show” during the World of Color.
The specialized Glow with the Show ears sell in various locations at the Disneyland Resort and Downtown Disney District for $25. When turned on, the ears will blink randomly, even outside of a special show. Once the show begins, they are magically taken over and controlled for the durration of the show.
Disney has not specifically given a date for when “Glow with the Show” will start at Fantasmic!, only saying sometime in August, 2012. Disneyland has confirmed that the first showing of the Fantasmic! “Glow with the Show” will happen on August 31, 2012.
UPDATE: Disneyland is holding an Annual Pass Fantasmic! Glow with the Show event. Annual Passholders can now register for the event IN PERSON at the ticket booths. Disneyland is not allowing online registration for this event. The Fantasmic! event will be held on Tuesday, August 28th from 10 p.m. until Midnight; the showing will start at 11:30 p.m. Annual Passholders can register for themselves and up to 3 additional Annual Passholder guests.
