Disneyland Resort Construction Update
Speaking of the safety upgrades…
Here is some of the progress on the Storybook Land / Casey Jr. refurbishment
The bridges have been torn up to install a new “safety rail” to make it easier for guests to walk along the bridge in the event of an evacuation.
It appears that Disney is no longer using the wooden, themed construction walls and is instead using a stretched material affixed with screws.
Over at Casey Jr Circus Train, you can see where the typical Disneyland construction wall ends and this new form of material wall begins.
A small section of wall has been installed across from the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad exit.
It’s not for a refurbishment, but for prop storage for Mickey’s Halloween Party.
The exterior of Red Rockett’s Pizza Port is still under a refurbishment, however the restaurant remains open.
Fantasy Faire construction seems to have picked up pace at the former Carnation Plaza Gardens site.
The City Hall / Fire Station building remains under an extensive external refurbishment. The restrooms and City Hall remain open, the Fire Station is closed.
Construction is moving forward on converting the Fantasyland Theater back into a stage show venue, however progress is not yet visible above the construction walls.
In Downtown Disney, construction of Earl of Sandwich is also moving forward with the addition of framing for an outdoor covering.
An opening date has still not yet been announced.
The “Compass Books Kiosk”, nicknamed such after its first tenant, has been removed. The permanent kiosk housed many tenants since Downtown Disney opened in 2001, but it was never able to keep one long term. Its removal opens the area up between ESPN Zone, the walk way to the Disneyland Hotel and the Earl of Sandwich (under construction).
