It’s Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort

Halloween Time kicks off today at the Disneyland Resort. As in years past your favorite holiday attraction overlays and Disney entertainment will return, but this year, Disneyland has also added a few extra elements to this ‘Spooktacular’ time of year.

Main Street will be decorated with hundreds of unique pumpkins, including a large Mickey shaped jack-o-lantern in Town Square.

In New Orleans Square, Jack Skellington will once again take over the Haunted Mansion in an effort to bring Halloween to Christmastown. The elaborate attraction overlay is a guest favorite and typically brings longer than normal wait times, and Disneyland is not offering FastPass this year, so be prepared to wait.

Disneyland also creates a unique gingerbread house each year and displays it in the ballroom scene of the attraction. For this Halloween, Disneyland has created very different gingerbread ‘house’ and you can preview it here.

Over in Tomorrowland, guests can take a trip into a darker-than-normal corner of the Galaxy on Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy. It’s obvious from the moment you see Space Mountain that something is wrong as the entire exterior comes alive with spooky projections and sounds.

For the first time this year, Disneyland will be hosting the Halloween Carnival. The Halloween Carnival will be added to the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree on the backside of Frontierland and will be your place to see pumpkin carvers, participate in activities and crafts, purchase merchandise and treats, and play midway carnival games such as a ring toss. Guests can also meet their favorite Disney characters and Villains in their Halloween costumes.

Disney California Adventure is also getting in on the Halloween Time fun with the “The Art of Frankenweenie Exhibition”. This traveling exhibit features sketches, props, sets, and puppets from Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie”, his latest animated film opening in theaters on October 5, 2012. The exhibit will also include a 4D sneak peek of the movie.

Mickey’s Halloween Party is also returning during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. Mickey’s Halloween Party is a special ticketed event, separate from regular park admission and takes place on select nights after Disneyland closes. Children and adults alike are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costumes and trick-or-treat at Disneyland. Guests of Mickey’s Halloween Party are also given access to Disneyland three hours prior to the start of the private party. Learn more about Mickey’s Halloween Party.

Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort returns Today, Friday, September 14, 2012 through Halloween, Monday, October 31, 2012. The Haunted Mansion Holiday will remain open through the first week of January 2013.
