Welcome Back to the Disneyland Resort
The Holidays at the Disneyland Resort officially kicked off this morning! Disneyland and especially Disney California Adventure, have made their transitions for the season and we have a huge photo update for you! At Disneyland, the Christmas tree is up in Town Square, the garland was stretched across Main Street last night, Sleeping Beauty Castle is covered in snow and ice, Santa has moved into the Jingle Jangle Jamboree and “it’s a small world” Holiday is setting cruise. Across the esplanade, Buena Vista Street has been transformed into a 1920′s downtown Christmas. The Buena Vista Street Community Bell Ringers sing carols, a 50-foot Christmas tree stands in Carthay Circle and a department store Santa Claus is greeting guests in Elias and Company. Back in Cars Land, guests can experience Cars-inspired garland and very unique Christmas trees and lighting.
Here is a quick word from Touring Plans on what you can expect this week’s crowds to look like.

- Tuesday is the best day to do Disney California Adventure.
- Partial blockouts on Saturday and Sunday.
- Crowd levels are a 9 and 8 on Saturday and Sunday.
- Due to its incredibly low capacity, consider riding Luigi’s Flying Tires standby right after starting your day by grabbing a FASTPASS for Radiator Springs Racers.

Holiday garland on Buena Vista Street

The classic ‘Department Store Santa’ meets with shoppers in Elias & Co.

The interior of the shops have been decorated for the Holidays

The Buena Vista Street Community Bell Ringers perform under the Glendale-Hyperion Bridge throughout the day.

The 50-foot tall Buena Vista Street Christmas Tree, completely decorated with vintage style ornaments and a steaming train at the base.

Holidays in Cars Land
The Cars have decorated Cars Land with air filter garlands, classic lighting, very unique Christmas trees and a special soundtrack and lighting ceremony set “Winter Wonderland“.

Very elaborate Cozy Cone gingerbread house.

Note the color wheel on the metal tree.

Sarge may be a bit confused on when Independence Day is celebrated.

Mad T Party & Phineas and Ferb
The Mad T Party features special Holiday music and snowfall nightly.

The lanterns have been changed out to blue and white.

In Hollywood Land, the poles are subtlety accented with candy cane garland.

Jingle Jangle Jamboree
The Jingle Jangle Jamboree is a Holiday overlay to the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree (similar to how Halloween took over the area). The Jingle Jangle Jamboree features special treats, games, crafts and Santa Claus. Santa has moved out of his cabin this year, and his reindeer have stayed in the North Pole. Billy Hill and the Hillbillies Holiday also perform on the main stage.

I took my photo without waiting in line… This look tells me I may be getting coal in my stocking.

The Jingle Jangle Jamboree is also where you can see all of your favorite characters dressed in their festive Holiday outfits.

No reindeer.

“it’s a small world” Holiday
The popular “it’s a small world” Holiday opened a few days early this year.

Here is a full video ride through of the 2012 “it’s a small world” Holiday overlay.

“Saving Mr. Banks” Filming
Actor Tom Hanks was seen playing the role of Walt Disney throughout the day at Disneyland today. Hanks is portraying Walt Disney for the upcoming film Saving Mr. Banks. The film tells the story of how Walt Disney was able to sway P.L. Travers (portrayed by Emma Thompson), the creator of “Mary Poppins”, into allowing Disney to create the now iconic and classic film. Saving Mr. Banks is based in 1964 and is filming only a few scenes at Disneyland, re-creating actual events which occurred at the park.
Extra’s in their 1960′s attire, note the banners.

Around the Resort
The walls have comedown around a portion of the waterfall behind Dumbo.

Work continues on the Casey Jr. Circus Train bridges.

Workers are retrofitting the bridges to make them safer in the event of an evacuation. Note the newly extended portion of the bridge.

The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad FASTPASS distribution queue has been reduced in size and should help with traffic flow in this typically crowded area.

Progress on the Fantasy Faire

Vertical construction is now visible at the Fantasyland Theater. The theater is being reconstructed for a new stage show.

That’s going to do it for this week’s update. You can see the past updates here.
