Prepare for Holiday Crowds at Disneyland

Christmas on Main Street (Explored)

It’s the most wonderful time of year.

The Holidays at Disneyland are by far my most favorite time of year to visit, and likewise they are for most. We are on the cusp of what could be the busiest time of year to visit the parks. Not to discourage you from visiting, actually I say go for it and here’s why.

Even though Disneyland park will be so packed in the evenings that walking may prove to be a challenge and even though missing out on your favorite attractions or shows is a real possibility there is one major reason why I tell people to still go and experience the park during the last two weeks of the year.

You’ll appreciate the park even more the other 50 weeks!

If you have never visited during a 10/10 Touring Plans prediction day, you’re in for a real treat.  Here are a few tips to help you navigate over the next few weeks.

Don’t attempt to exit the park after the fireworks. Most guests will attempt to exit at this time, creating a backup on Main Street and bottle necks at the Main Street train station tunnels. During this time, keep an eye out behind Refreshment Corner (Coke Corner) for the backstage express exit – also known as ‘backstage west’.

Go to the parks with the intent to enjoy the atmosphere. Select only a few major things you’d like to experience. Pick a few attractions and one show. This way if you get to experience more you’ll be happy instead of disappointed.

If you are in Disneyland park in the evenings, try not to exit. There are times – although rare – that Disneyland has to close the turnstiles. If this happens you may not be allowed back inside the park for hours.

When you leave for the evening, consider walking back to your car. This is quite easy if your parked in the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure. It’s only a half-mile walk. Just follow the signs near the Downtown Disney tram stop.

Above all, enjoy yourself and the company of those with you. Even though these next few weeks can represent the largest crowds of the year, it also represents some of the happiest.
